In the world of college football conference play or should I say conference wins are more valuable than anything, according to Miami coach Randy Shannon. Many people would love to argue that the reason Miami lost to Virginia Tech last week was due to inclement weather. When Miami and Florida State go head-to-head the games are usually a battle of defense and the game comes down to a field goal or extra point. In the case of the September 7, 2009 match-up this wasn’t the case. The critics favored Florida State heavy and Miami was the underdogs. The first game of the season is always the biggest and some openers are bigger than others. Palms are sweaty, freshman have butterfly's and some returning players. Coaches and players will have a greater urgency to start stronger than others but the most imprtant thing is the anticipation of the fans, who have been waiting on this moment for several months.
